The ABB-BG factory in Sevlievo is subject to a major re-construction and design overhaul. Production processes are updated and streamlined. The indoor space-planning is adapted to the new requirements for production and logistics. The shell of the factory is being improved to fulfill current building and environmental codes. We were engaged to manage the process and filter it through our past experience while designing other buildings for ABB.
While assessing the redevelopment cost for the entire project,
which consists of a production facility, several auxiliary buildings, power-stations and
an office building a SWOT analysis shows that the cost of rehabilitation of the office building exceeds such cost for a new building of the same size.
Construction cost for a new building are agreeable but further aspects like:
- Operational/ Brand and Esteem value
- Efficiency and performance
- Function are factored into the decision.
